The previously vacant United Illuminating headquarters located at 80 Temple Street in New Haven, Connecticut was been transformed into a new mixed use facility, Temple Square. This facility offers a unique combination of 44 luxury rental apartments, a five screen first-run art cinema, a fine dining restaurant and a casual restaurant / lounge.

This historically significant structure was sensitively restored. The signature marble clock tower was repaired and is working once again, electrical artifacts were salvaged and are on display in the cinema, replacement windows that match the original design were installed, the exterior masonry was cleaned and repaired; the high quality millwork found was replicated for general use throughout the interior of the apartments.

The fourth floor addition is framed between the clock tower and two existing end caps. This addition is set back from the face of the building to create upper level patios and highlight the existing structure. The material and form of the addition complement the existing structure without detracting from the historical significance of the existing structure.
