Bonney Brook is a ten unit HUD 202 senior affordable housing project nearing completion located along Kent Road in Cornwall, Connecticut. The latest design standards and requirements of the HUD 202 program along with universal design elements that allow for building and site spaces and elements to be aesthetically and functionally as usable as possible by all, regardless of their age or disability were incorporated into the design. The building was designed, constructed and certified to Energy Star for Homes version 3.0.
Community, comfort, functionality and service for the elderly population were the main design considerations throughout the facility. The building has common area that includes a center lobby with grand staircase to the second floor and a full height cupola structure that allows natural light to enter the building all the way to the first floor.
