Affordable Housing, Assisted Living, and Supportive Housing

Pathways Brookridge is a supportive housing development located in Greenwich, Connecticut. An addition was placed on the rear of the a single family home to create 10 units of supportive housing and associated common space including a common kitchen, living room, and dining areas. The existing structure is on the historically significant structure list in the Town of Greenwich and therefore required a sensitive approach.

The architectural style of the addition is blended into the existing structure and the exterior stucco finish was replaced and tied into the stucco finish on the addition.  The interior of the home was restored to create common spaces that retain their residential quality providing various opportunities for social interaction and recreation by the residents.

One design priority in supportive housing is to provide barrier-free access and the opportunity for residents to age in place.  This development was funded under the HUD 811 supportive housing program.  The units have been initially designed as accessible to disabled persons, all one-bedroom units have been designed to be adaptable for various types of disabilities (including wheelchair usage and sight and hearing impairments).
